Darrell C. Porter is a non-denominational, full gospel evangelist. He received his Masters Degree in Christian Education from the International Bible College & Seminary in Independence, Missouri. He also worked a nationwide Prevention Consultant. He served as the Prevention Coordinator for a Central Illinois mental health agency, being a professionally Certified Illinois State Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Prevention Specialist. Mr. Porter is a husband and father of five children.
Rev. Porter has worked extensively with urban youth in Chicago, Los Angeles and Central Illinois for over 40 years. He has worked with street gang members, dropouts and substance abuse offenders. He has designed and implemented a number of community-based youth programs, from creative approaches to learning basic academics, to theatrical training, to learning how to fly a single engine airplane.
Rev. Porter has conducted well over six thousand trainings, workshops and seminars on evangelism, spiritual warfare, substance abuse, conflict resolution and youth and gang violence, nationwide. He has trained ministers, pastors, other church leaders, educators, community leaders and professionals. He has taught several years at a Central Illinois Bible College. For over six years he chaired the Macon County Youth Violence and Gang Task Force, comprised of local, county and state law enforcement and other community professionals.
Prior to the ministry, Darrell Porter worked as a news writer in the Mayor’s Office of the city of Chicago. He also worked as a TV news reporter and later as anchorman for two network TV stations in Denver, Colorado. For more than 40 years he’s written, acted, directed and produced a score of stage, television and film productions in Illinois, Colorado and California. He was also founder and executive producer of the African American Community Arts Theatre.
Rev. Porter has presented gang awareness trainings to school administrators and entire student bodies at Middle, Jr. High and High Schools. He has provided trainings to students at colleges and universities, as well as to educators from around the state of Illinois. He’s conducted parent trainings, as well as trainings to prevention professionals. He has been the keynote speaker at numerous conferences and events.
Additionally, Porter has worked as a professional consultant to the statewide agency Prevention First, Inc., The Texas Commission on Alcohol and Substance Abuse, the Springfield Housing Authority and several Central Illinois School Districts. He has designed several effective youth programs, including the University of Illinois’ Center for Prevention Research and Development’s recognized model prevention program, which he implemented at a rural middle school.
For over 18 years he has also been a regular guest and co-host on Christian television as well as other local and regional television stations. He was a co-founder and board member of the Decatur Prayer Center, and also a chaplain for the Decatur, Illinois Police Department. He has pastored over 6 churches in the United States..
He currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada where he continues to write and publish the HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Prayerline Newsletter. He is founder and director of the Ichthus Institute for Enrichment & Christian Development and pastors the New Covenant International Ministries as he continues to work with local, national and international Bible-based, Chrst-centered ministries in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
